Biotech firm Medicago, Inc. (TSE:MDG) has struck a research agreement with Cellectis plant sciences to improve therapeutic proteins expressed in tobacco leaves, the company said Monday.
Tobacco farmers were made to produce another crop, even thought they made more money farming tobacco. This new discovery of therapeutic proteins in tobacco leaves may allow the farmers to choose their crops again.

The Control of Tobacco Products and Electronic Delivery Systems Bill (‘Tobacco Bill’), which is open for comment until 9 August 2018, imposes draconian new rules and restrictions on the sale and use of tobacco products, and controversially places electronic delivery systems (e-cigarettes or “vapes”) under harsh regulation.
