As the season of good will and cheer really gets underway we’re happy to report some excellent news from Washington, DC.
President Bush took up his veto pen and killed the huge cigarette tax increase proposed to pay for an expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. Whatever the merits of this government program and the need to widen its coverage, delegating America’s smokers as the sacrificial cash cow to pay for it was and always will be a moral outrage. It’s also flat out stupid. Norman Kjono sends a hearty thank you to the White House and urges all who rejoice to do the same.
