Why did California voters vote against Prop 29? Because it wasn’t necessary, says Ashton Ellis, a professor at Pepperdine University’s School of Public Policy.

We don’t know why the public didn’t vote for Prop 29. maybe because they feel smoker’s have been beaten up enough. Whatever the reason we are glad that this Proposition was defeated.
FDA and Cigars

A Victory

Prop 29 in California has not passed. It would have added an addtional $1.00 per pack on a pack of cigarettes.
A Little Late

Lawsuits from major tobacco corporations challenging anti-tobacco policies all over the world underscore the ever greater need for a global crackdown on tobacco use, for the sake of both public health and global development goals.

It is about time Tobacco companies are challenging anti-tobacco. The only question is why did it take them so long to do it?
Kalifornia

The Tobacco Companies are spending money to campaign against Proposition 29 in California. The American Cancer Society is quoted "We are still ahead but it’s very close. Big tobacco has a bottomless budget to tell lies," said David Veneziano, head of the American Cancer Society’s California chapter. ACS has had billions of dollars to spread their lies and have violated every regulation of the IRS for 501 (c) 3 charitable nonprofits.

Forces is against any new taxes on tobacco because the states are receiving billions of dollars each year from Tobacco and will continue to do so till 2025.
First Amendment

Police behaving badly makes the news as well it should. Chicago police have never been known for their restraint, going back in recent history to the 1968 Democratic Convention when they bashed heads of anti-war protestors. We have seen it in other states as in California when Rodney King was beaten mercilessly.

Today thanks to cell phone camera’s, every Police Department should be wary of saying or beating someone senseless because it will be on network news almost instantly.

Look at this clip which happened in Chicago.

You will no longer be able to purchase drinks that are 16 ounces, in NYC. Bloomberg, a billionaire and previous smoker, continues to abuse his office. Billionaire’s are different from everyone else.

Fatties Lawsuit

Two former waitresses who filed a $15million lawsuit against a New York City restaurant claiming sexual harassment, discrimination and forcible weigh-ins will get their day in court.

In addition to sexual harassment, sexual discrimination, battery and a hostile work environment, the two women also claimed that they were fired for complaining about the manager’s behavior. They are now demanding $15 million in compensatory and punitive damages, according to the lawsuit.

Too bad they didn’t think of suing Bloomberg personally.

Washington State

Small roll your own cigarettes store may have to close since the Governor signed a new law which would tax roll your own at the same rate as store bought brands.

Joe Baba, a tobacco distributor for Washington state who co-owns multiple roll-your-own cigarette stores in the area with his wife Kari, is considering legal action against the state.

Good luck, Joe.
