New Study on E-cigarettes

New research out of the United Kingdom indicates that the use of e-cigarettes may have helped thousands quit smoking. The study was published Wednesday in the British Medicinal Journal.<br type="_moz" />

Tobacco is growing in Raleigh, N.C.

The U.S. Tobacco Cooperative of Raleigh has broken ground on a major expansion of its tobacco production and cigarette plant facilities about 20 miles north of Durham as part of a plan to improve efficiency and transport of its products around the world.<br type="_moz" />

New Study on E-cigarettes

&quot;The international scientific team measured participants&rsquo; urine levels of seven nicotine metabolites and 17 biomarkers of exposure to carcinogens and toxicants present in cigarette smoke over a two-week period. The biomarkers measured in the study are indicators of the risk of several diseases, including lung cancer. For 12 of 17 measured biomarkers, they found significant declines in exposure to toxicants when participants changed from tobacco cigarettes to e-cigarettes. The decline in toxicant levels was similar to the decline seen among tobacco users who quit smoking&quot;.<br type="_moz" />
