"Most studies have failed to establish a significant link between second-hand smoke and cancer. The risk from drinking coffee or milk appears greater. Undaunted, the EPA in 1993 defined second-hand smoke as a Class A carcinogen, or cancer-causing agent."

The Canadian media barely breathed a word about the Osteen decision when the news broke. However, Terence Corcoran of the Globe and Mail - long critical of anti-tobacco - was prompt to respond and to grasp the significance of the decision. The Canadian media's seeming determination to ignore this story was especially disturbing given the disruptive battles over smoking bans that have been fought in this country over the past several years.
