We post this expired press release by the President of the Oregon Judicial Watch mainly to illustrate where too much of America is going with the belief of the state being the dispenser of all values and freedom, as opposed to the guardian and protector of them. Let this excerpt say it all: ' We have watched legislation in the last ten years increasingly allow the state to restrict the rights and freedom of citizens in Oregon, and we have archives about the meetings in l986 called "Oregon Agenda for the l990"s Children and Families" wherein a consensus of state employees and elected officials set the stage, Governor Goldschmidt and John Kitzhaber and Vera Katz and Beverly Stein and Barbara Roberts many others who are now appointed in positions of authority in Oregon government. At these meetings it was decided that Oregon would lead the way with a socialist agenda that culminated in Oregon Shines, Benchmarks Goals 2000 programs that affect every part of every life for Oregonians. Kitzhaber said "the state is the parent of the child, and the parents are part of the problem" in meeting the state goals, and the state is going to take the children and force parents into contracts, so that federal funds can be used to provide services that the parents cannot afford "in the best interest of the child" '. These are not the words of some sensationalistic nut. They are also the no longer implicit words of the anti-tobacco cartel and its mandatory anti-tobacco "education" programs, where children are taught to nag and disrespect smoking parents, undermining the very essence of the family. The Socialist state has always encouraged the families to surrender their children to it. And the failure of Socialism everywhere has not discouraged the American Neo-Socialists who are trying to turn the US into the political revenge of the USSR.

Added September 29, 2000 - We have all, nonsmoker and smoker, been assaulted by the jerky, poorly produced Truth advertisements polluting the TV airwaves. Most ignore the incomprehensible and idiotic dialogue the losers spout on screen but attention should be paid to the serious misuse of public funds producing these indulgent exercises in self-indulgency. The National Review Online sums up the problem with the Truth Campaign: There is very little Truth and a hell of a lot of demagoguery. Tobacco education, if it is to be considered a legitimate activity, should once in a while educate. The Truth Campaign's only purpose is to divide people and attack American corporations. It must be eliminated.

If you are a junior of the smokers' rights movement, you won't believe what you are about to read. You will believe that it is a joke by some prankster in a good mood. Unfortunately, this is real enough to be published by the Washington Post. It's a head-shaker. Anti-smokers are so arrogant as to think that if they pay the ticket for a theatre or an airplane, they are entitled to a non-smoking environment, while the smokers who pay the same are not entitled to any accomodation, under any circumstances. What makes them better people than us? What makes their needs and preferences more important than ours? Nobody knows, but let us make the following observations: a) smokers are not leaching the resources of society through pensions, because of our shorter lives; b) we are doing our share -- and then some -- of paying for the diseases contracted by everyone -- through our tobacco taxation; c) most importantly, we recognize the right of people to have lifestyle choice, while they do not our right to our choice of lifestyle. Thus, if there is someone who should have contempt, it certainly should be us. Finally, if the lady who wrote this letter has a constitution that is as delicate as she claims, it is miraculous that she makes it through the pollution generated by city traffic to get to the theatre in the first place!

' We don' t start a lawsuit unless we think the chances are good, " Ron Meshbesher, one of the lawyers, said Monday. Of the lawsuit, Attorney General Hubert Humphrey III said, " You see roadkill on the road and all the sudden the vultures are around. ' Meshbesher, a Minneapolis attorney, called that remark ' unseemly for an officer of the court. ' " - HA, HA, HA! WHO'S TALKING! Only the face of a lurid anti-smoker can pronounce words like that, after the vultures have robbed the tobacco industry and smokers of billions of dollars. "Unseemly" indeed. These bastards have no shame. But, we are not telling you anything new here...

Added May 25 - "Except for the central 40-minute attack sequence, which combines razzle-dazzle pyrotechnics with high grade visual effects to deliver the destructive spectacle people want to see, this $140 million Jerry Bruckheimer-Michael Bay World War II extravaganza features a script that Jack Warner would have found wanting even for a propaganda melodrama at the time, along with a cast perfectly in tune with its shallowness." … "Rather, the film reserves its most vigorous sanitization efforts to the almost total elimination of cigarettes from a military scene in which nearly everyone smoked. The same revisionism applied in ``Saving Private Ryan,'' and it's ludicrous." That's right -- didn't you know?! The military never smoked, and neither did Roosevelt, Einstein, Kennedy, Churchill, Eisenhower, Marconi, Verdi, Fermi - and all the thousands of geniuses and great political figures, whose pipes, cigars and cigarettes have been air brushed off their hands and mouths in pictures and movies (except for Adolph Hitler and Mussolini, who were non smokers). There is more than simple stupidity in antismoking; there is the deliberate notion that bigots with enough power CAN rewrite history… for the children, of course! The no smoking symbol is, in fact, far more than just a sign; it is the flag of a mentality tuned to state-ism, and to state pre-packaged definitions for healthy and unhealthy, and for right and wrong. God and parents are replaced by state and doctors, while the worshiping of bodily fitness is at the expense of spiritual health, and intellectual honesty and freedom. It is pseudo-intellectual pyramidal thinking, which openly rationalises distortion, censorship and lies for its own ends - just like Clinton's blow jobs were not sex, or the proposed/imposed smoking without nicotine -- while taking nicotine without smoking. Truly, antismoking, and healthism in general, are socialism at its worst. The result is a pasteurised, shallow, schizophrenic, and brainless society without character and substance - just like this movie from rabid antismoking Disney. Let the kids know that the best and greatest among us, and the most heroic, were (and still are) proud, cool smokers; that we neither like, nor want, what is represented by the no smoking flag, and that we will fight hard to destroy what it stands for -- until we are done.

Dr. Harry Burns, Chef Medical Officer of Scotland, is out to lunch. Let's take a closer look. 'Anecdotal evidence shows that since the smoking ban, there has been a surge in the numbers of smokers seeking help to give up.' Actual evidence shows that the consumption of cigarettes has gone up 5% in Scotland since the smoking ban. 'In 2005, there were 4,000 recorded deaths from lung cancer in Scotland. As lung cancer is not a disease unique to smokers, does not mean that they were all caused by smoking? How many were, Dr. Burns, an dhow many were not? 'Imagining Scotland with no lung cancer is not trivial speculation.' There is nearly another 40 suspected causes of lung cancer. It is trivial speculation.

The New York Law Journal reports: "Cigarette smokers past and present are asking New York's highest court to reinstate their consumer fraud claims against five major tobacco companies, a step that would create the largest class action in the state's history. Since the plaintiffs are seeking recovery only of money spent to buy cigarettes, not damages for personal injury or emotional distress caused by smoking or addiction, they say class actions offer the only realistic avenue for them to pursue redress against the tobacco industry." We have very few comments, as the story is self-denigrating... this is getting so sorry. What a bunch of greedy lawyers they have in the US! Do you suppose the reimbursement would exclude Fed and State excise taxes? Won't amount to much if it does!

Coining a new and very accurate term, a leading medical journal examines how drug companies increase sales by creating new 'diseases' and turning normal conditions into excuses for expensive drug taking. Disease-mongering turns healthy people into patients, wastes precious resources and causes iatrogenic (medically induced) harm. Like the marketing strategies that drive it, disease-mongering poses a global challenge to those interested in public health, demanding in turn a global response. The journal neglects to point out a third category of drug company mercantile malfeasance. Turning tobacco use into the kiss of death staved off only by switching from cigarettes to more expensive pharmaceutical cessation devices has also resulted in wads of cash flowing into Big Drugs' ever-expanding coffers.

Anthropogenic (human-caused) global warming is an article of faith for the media that is popularizing the notion at the behest of special interests who know they are conning the public. While the terminology and scientific methodology for determining whether the globe is warming and, if so, what is the cause is daunting to the layman and incomprehensible to the reporters who write about it. This short article from the American Thinker provides insight into the bad science that has politicians and a segment of the public panic stricken. Sadly the issue as to the cause of global warming may have progressed beyond anything the scientific community can say or do about it. It has evolved into an emotional and faith-based issue, where scientific fact has no validity.
